The Brief Introduction of SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd.SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd., originally Liuzhou Power Machine Plant which was built in 1958, is a three-way joint venture, invested by Shanghai Automobile Industry (Group) Corporation, General Motors and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co., Ltd. and put its name up formally on Nov. 18, 2002. It became more and more big and its output increased continually across this year''s development. Three shareholders'' resources integration made wuling develop into an internationalization and modern company form a local national plant little by little.

 

The company locates in the Liuzhou city of Guangxi and occupies a land of 790,000 m2 and has workforce of about 4,300 employees. With a modern production layout, the company has integrated pressing, welding, painting facilities and general assembly operation. Its annual production capacity of compact car reached 200,000 vehicles. All Wuling-brand vehicles have passed European I Emission Standards, most of them having also passed European Ⅱ Emission Standards. Both the sales and manufacturing volume of SGMW in 2003 exceeded 180,000 vehicles and Wuling vehicles were also exported to more than 19 countries and areas such as in South-east Asia, Middle East, South America and Western Europe, etc.. In 2000, the company won a reward in protecting consumer''s legal rights and a reward on customer satisfaction in 2001 and 2003. SGMW passed the country’s authentication about "3C" successfully in 2003. and the Wuling-brand compact car also won the title of "costumer''s satisfactory product (national)" for many times.

 

The company operates the National ?level Technical Center and Post-Doctorate Science and Research Base, which are implementing C3P (CAD/CAE/CAM/PDM) automobile development engineering systems and has greatly improved the company''s ability of development and innovation. SGMW has successfully shortened its product R&D cycle from three to four years to one year or two. Today, the company produces more than 200 models altogether, including commercial vehicles, mini-vehicles, trucks, multi-functional passenger vehicles. The N1 is very popular in the market which designed and researched by themselves completely. The SPARK which appeared in Shanghai Car''s Exhibit in Apr., 2003 is called the most beautiful mini-vehicle in the world. After that, SGMW anabasised the area of manufacture passenger vehicle and it owned two manufacturing systems.

 

Led by the SAIC Group, American GM, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co. Ltd., SGMW will fully leverage the advantages of the three-way partnership, introduce advanced management concept and systems, further carry forth business re-organization, integrate internal resources, materialize refined management in purchasing, production, R&D, sales and marketing , human resources and quality control. Up till now, the company’s management level has been improved enormously, with Wuling value chain preliminarily coming into being.
